Early in the morning, thefts from construction sites in Sörböle were reported to the police. Later in the morning, additional thefts were reported.
The break-ins are suspected to have occurred over the weekend. "Crime scene investigations will be conducted," the police stated on their website.
Elin Andersson, police spokesperson, told Norran that a total of three construction sites were targeted – two in Sörböle and one in Anderstorp.
– The police have visited the sites and are currently working on the cases, she said.
Mats Bruhn, on-duty lead investigator at Västerbottenspolisen, mentioned that the stolen items were professional tools and equipment.
– We don't know the exact value at the moment, but we're talking about substantial amounts, Bruhn told VK.
The police assess that there could be an increased risk of similar thefts in Västerbotten and therefore encourage the public to report any observations related to construction sites.
– If you see unfamiliar individuals or vehicles, or anything that seems out of the ordinary, don't dismiss it. Contact the police so we can investigate further, said Daniel Karlsson from the crime coordination unit in Västerbotten.
