Four men are currently in police custody in Skellefteå after they were arrested on Tuesday night on suspicion of attempted theft. They are suspected of being involved in a recent spate of robberies and break-ins.

In recent weeks, police in Västerbotten have raised the alarm about a large number of burglaries and thefts affecting both homeowners and business owners.

Several homes have been broken into, and valuable tools and other items have been stolen from construction sites.

Earlier this week, Norran wrote that three building sites in Skellefteå - two in Sörböle and one in Anderstorp - had been visited by unwelcome guests. In total, tools worth a six-figure sum have been stolen in the county in recent days alone.

Between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on the night of Tuesday, the police in Skellefteå were able to arrest four people. The men are currently suspected of attempted theft in Skellefteå on Monday.

After brief questioning, the prosecutor on duty decided early on Tuesday morning that the men should be remanded in custody.

Several investigators are working on the case, according to Skellefteå police.
