On the night of September 1, emergency services responded to a fire in Ursviken. Twelve rescue units from Skellefteå, Skelleftehamn, Lövånger, Bureå, and Boliden were deployed to the scene, where they worked for nearly three hours to extinguish the flames. The fire damaged a container and a small outbuilding.
The property owner, who rents the property to a motorcycle club in Ursviken, expressed concern about the potential connection between this incident and previous fires in the area. He noted that the damage appeared to be limited to the container and surrounding area.
The Skellefteå police have been investigating a series of arson attacks in Ursviken since 2017. In October 2023, Norran reported on the similarities between these incidents and drew attention to the possibility of a connection.
On Monday, a man was brought in for questioning at the Skellefteå police station regarding the Ursviken arsons. After a brief interrogation, prosecutors decided to arrest him on charges of arson.
A more extensive police interrogation is scheduled for Tuesday, and the suspect has been appointed a public defender, Urban Rönnblom. While Rönnblom declined to provide further details, he confirmed that the interrogation would take place on Tuesday.
