In 2021, 1,113 driving licenses were revoked in Västerbotten, a number that has now dropped to 997, writes Västerbottens-Kuriren.
The last time it was below 1,000 was in 2018 when 992 drivers' licenses were revoked.
The most common reason for a driver's license to be revoked is due to what is categorized as a "significant violation", such as speeding, running red lights or driving too close to other vehicles.
The second most common reason was for medical circumstanes. Drunk driving, or driving under the influence of drugs, is the third most common reason for revoked driving licenses in Västerbotten – these offences accounted for 160 of 997 revocations last year.
In Sweden, a total of 35,227 driving licenses were withdrawn in 2022, which is a decrease of 15 percent compared to the year before.
