A rainfront is set to move across parts of northern Västerbotten and southern Norrbotten on Thursday afternoon. Heavy rainfall is expected from the afternoon until tomorrow, with local downpours possible. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow weather warning.
– More than 70 mm of rain is expected in the Skellefteå area, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen, a meteorologist at SMHI.
SMHI fears that the heavy rainfall could result in flooding of roads, viaducts, and cellars, and cause traffic problems.
By Midsummer's Eve, the rainfront is expected to have passed the northeastern parts of Västerbotten, according to SMHI's forecast.
– Midsummer's Eve will be mostly cloudy with occasional rain showers, says Höjgård-Olsen.
