From Wednesday evening into Thursday, heavy snowfall is expected in the Skellefteå area.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning for heavy snowfall across large parts of Norrbotten and Västerbotten, an additional yellow warning for heavy snowfall combined with strong winds along the coast, and an orange warning in the mountains.

"Leave garbage out until it's collected"

Garbage disposal in Skellefteå municipality is delayed as a result of the heavy snowfall.

The municipality urges households to leave the containers until they are emptied.

"Please wait before going to the recycling centres," the municipality writes on its website.

Degermyran's recycling center has been ploughed.

Road manager: "All hands on deck"

Plough trucks hit the roads at 03:00 on Thursday night.

– We're deploying all available resources, says Jan Burlin, operations manager for Skellefteå municipality's roads.

He explains that the municipality doesn't prioritize specific roads but follows standard ploughing routes.

According to Burlin, operations are progressing as expected, despite some challenges.

– The biggest issue is dealing with snow drifts, which quickly return after ploughing, he says.

Plough trucks will continue their work throughout the day and into tomorrow.

All buses in Umeå have been cancelled.

All bus routes now running
All Skellefteå Buss traffic is now up and running, announces Jens Mårtensson, head of communications.

– Now the traffic is moving. Some delays may occur, but nothing cancelled at the moment, he writes in an email.

Buses cancelled due to snow chaos
Skellefteå bus has announced that heavy snowfall is disrupting morning traffic. The company is bracing for delays and interruptions in bus services due to the weather conditions.

– As you can understand, there may be some disruptions caused by the snow, with delays depending on how effectively plowing is handled, the company writes.

Route 207 will only operate via the E4 until further notice.

Route 212 will start in Kusmark.

Long queues have formed along the E4 in Skellefteå. In the southbound lane, traffic is almost at a standstill, according to people at the scene.
