The groups recommended to have the spring booster includes people turning 80 or older and those aged 65 or older who require daily care, such as home care or living in a special facility, according to Västerbottens-Kuriren. These groups are eligible for vaccination between March 19 and April 30.
– Those receiving booster shots will have a stronger defense against serious illness and hospitalization, says Maria Marklund, infection control specialist with Region Västerbotten, in a press release. The spring vaccination targets groups most vulnerable to severe covid-19.
During the pre-winter vaccination campaign, Västerbotten achieved impressive results. A commendable 75% of those 65 and older received flu vaccinations, and 80% received covid-19 vaccinations.
Individuals not in these priority groups are considered to have adequate protection and can wait for the autumn vaccination program.
