P4 Västerbotten (in Swedish) interviewed 21 employees living in the barracks. One resident complained of hot summers, cold winters, cramped quarters, and messy shared kitchens.

He's considering quitting and knows colleagues who already have. The 8.5 square meters rooms house 800 people on the site.

Northvolt's communications director, Matti Kataja, told P4 that addressing employee concerns is paramount. While the barracks were meant to be temporary, the housing crisis necessitates their continued use for the company's expansion.

Skellefteå's building permits department has already approved additional temporary housing.
