Man in his 20s suspected of killing three reindeer

The man has been questioned and denies the allegations, according to a press release

– The investigation is ongoing, and we will conduct additional interviews moving forward. So far, we have not found any motive for the act, says assistant prosecutor Anna Nilsson in the press release.

The investigation includes video footage showing vehicles and injured reindeer. Police have also seized a car, which will be examined by forensic experts, according to Anna Nilsson.

– We are also awaiting the final report from the Statens veterinärmedicinska (National veterinary institute), which is examining the cause of the reindeers' death. That report is expected in one to two weeks, she says in the press release.

Nearly three weeks have passed since three reindeer were found dead on a road near Umeå. Åklagarmyndigheten (the Swedish prosecution authority) has now announced that a man in his twenties is suspected of aggravated animal cruelty and vandalism.
