Huge police presence during king's visit to Umeå

More visible police officers, flight restrictions, closed roads, and drones – ahead of the royal couple's visit to Umeå next Thursday, the security is significantly heightened. "Our task is to ensure that this event can be carried out in a safe and secure manner," says deputy local police chief Fredrik Jeppsson.

Extra police officers, including mounted police, will be visibly present.

– We will have a high police presence in the central parts of Umeå, says deputy local police chief Fredrik Jeppsson in a press release.

Large parts of the road network in central Umeå will be closed. At times, there will be very limited accessibility.

– We advise everyone who plans to travel in or through the city center to allow extra time. We also hope for the public's understanding that the closures are necessary, says Jeppsson.

During the royal couple's visit, the police will monitor the event using drones.

The Swedish Traffic Administration (Trafikverket) has decided to set up a temporary restricted area in the airspace over a large part of the city. During this time, it is forbidden to fly within the area. The flight ban applies to all aircraft - except for police aviation, air ambulance flights, Swedish military aviation, coast guard, customs, emergency services and search and rescue.

Failure to comply with the flight ban may result in a fine.
