Norran has previously reported on the sports hall that Skellefteå municipality wants to build in Sunnanå, and now a building permit application has been submitted.
Fredrik Nilsson, property manager at the municipality, shares with Norran the ambitious plans for Nyckelpigan, where Sunnanå SK has played youth football over the years.
– There will be multiple gymnasiums in the same building, with two of them specifically designed for gymnastics and cheerleading, while the third will be a regular gymnasium, Nilsson reveals.
The building permit application submitted by the municipality also includes plans for an artificial turf pitch adjacent to the sports hall.
– It will be a full-sized artificial turf pitch, and like the sports hall, it will be located at Nyckelpigan, where there are currently football fields used by the younger Sunnanå SK teams, Nilsson explains.
What does the timeline look like?
– We have submitted a building permit application, and now we are in the process of designing it, which we expect to be completed by the end of August. Then there may be procurement processes during the autumn, and possibly construction starting later in the fall if everything goes as planned, explains the property manager.
Nilsson also suggests that this will provide improved opportunities for students, from preschool to sixth grade, at Sunnanåskolan.
– The school is starting to feel crowded, and their current gymnasium is small, so this will be an improvement for the school, which we have also planned to expand in the future.
