50-year-old man arrested for suspected murder

On Wednesday, Skellefteå police and an ambulance responded to a call at residence in Skelleftehamn.

Upon entering the apartment, the police discovered the lifeless body of an elderly woman.

Given the circumstances, suspicion of a possible crime quickly arose, considering the possibility of a violent attack or other forms of foul play.

On Thursday, following a meeting between prosecutor Petra Hedberg and the police's serious crime investigator, Marcus Danielsson, a 50-year-old man was arrested by the police on suspicion of murder or, alternatively, manslaughter.

At the same time, the police began a series of investigative measures, including a forensic examination of the apartment and interviews with neighbors.

One resident stated:

– I went out to pick up a package and noticed a police car. When I came back, there were two police cars, an ambulance and what appeared to be two civilian cars. We want to understand what happened and if there is any cause for concern, the neighbor told Norran's reporter on Wednesday evening
