Mystery solved: Beach bones belong to Zebastian

Police have announced that the human skeletal remains found washed ashore on a beach in Skelleftehamn have now been identified. Relatives of the missing 29-year-old Zebastian have confirmed to Norran that the remains are his.

Human remains were discovered last Wednesday on a beach in Skelleftehamn.

– They have been identified and linked to a person who was reported missing in May 2024 after disappearing in central Skellefteå. The next of kin have been notified, says Marcus Danielsson, head of the police serious crime division in Västerbotten.

He adds that the analyses do not suggest any suspicion of a crime.

– We are now awaiting a final report from the National Board of Forensic Medicine in order to decide on further action or possibly close the case. They can determine whether there are any injuries or if injuries are absent on the remains found.

The next of kin confirmed to Norran that over the weekend they received information that it is Zebastian’s remains that have been found.

Zebastian was last seen in central Skellefteå on the night of 8 May 2024. It has now been confirmed that it was his remains that were found in Skelleftehamn last week.
