Within healthcare and support services, the need for 1,200 temporary workers during the summer is crucial.
– We are working hard on recruitment. The administration is still very optimistic that it will be resolved. In May, many young people decide where they want to work and then we have an offer for them on the table," says Iosif Karambotis.
The primary roles in demand are healthcare assistants and nurse assistants.
– The need varies a bit in different areas; some are completely covered, while we have difficulties in recruiting staff for facilities in the eastern part," Karambotis explains.
When it comes to nurses, there is a constant shortage.
– We hire staffing agencies to manage the workload. It is particularly challenging to find personnel at night, says Karambotis.
Extra compensation has been offered to staff who take an additional holiday and work during the summer period.
– Approximately 354 people applied for such compensation, which can range from 30,000 kronor to 2,000 kronor," Karambotis states.
Regular staff members have been given the option to take their entire holiday outside of the summer period and receive a bonus of 30,000 kronor. If they choose to only take two weeks of holiday during the summer, a payment of 15,000 kronor will be issued.
Temporary staff members will also receive a bonus of 10,000 kronor during weeks 25-32.
