Moröhöjden has been densified, and right next to the Hamburger stand and the ICA store, Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget (SBB) has two new blocks of apartments.
They are made of prefabricated modules, which explains the fast pace of construction. Lindbäcks was the general contractor, and they started digging the foundations at the beginning of October last year.
The modules arrived by truck from Piteå in January, and it took only three weeks to complete the buildings.
– We finished the facades in April and started working on the outdoor areas in May," says site manager Adam Holmström.
During Norran's visit, final inspections are underway and inspectors walk around to make sure everything is in order.
There are 51 apartments, ranging from two- to five-room units. The apartments went up for rent in the spring, and they are all taken.
The new buildings are located among three to four-story brick buildings that are condominiums.
The new buildings are rental apartments, which is in line with Skellefteå municipality's desire for a mix of tenure types in the city's residential areas.
Due to the economic downturn in the industry, SBB has only four ongoing construction projects in Norrland, which are overseen by project manager Pontus Lundström. In addition to Bägaren on Morö Backe, there are the houses in Myrängen, Skelleftehamn, about which we recently wrote an article. There's also one in Umeå and one in Boden.
– But we're also in the early stages of several new projects. The next one in Skellefteå is the upper area here in Moröhöjden; Krongatan. Some decisions haven't been made yet, but we hope to break ground in the spring of 2024, and if so, the buildings can go up next summer, he says.
