There's a significant number of roads in the county being spruced up this summer, and in light of this, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trakifverket) has released information on the routes and stretches that will be impacted by roadworks.
–There is a great need for maintenance on our roads. It always feels rewarding when we can carry out tasks that will genuinely make a difference, says Christian Eriksson, head of road maintenance at the Swedish Transport Administration.
Some of the planned work has already begun, but the majority will commence in June, July, or August.
– Maintain your speed and drive carefully at roadwork sites. This enhances safety for you, your fellow road users, and those working on the roads, says Eriksson.
Roadworks on E4 in Västerbotten and Norrbotten:
E4, Sikeå-Gumboda
Work: Installing new surfacing, median barriers, wildlife fencing, and signage to create a dual carriageway. Traffic Impact: Narrowed lanes, reduced speed, traffic lights, temporary bypasses, and detours. Duration: May to November. Length: 10 km.
E4, Sikeå
Work: Construction of a new interchange. Traffic Impact: E4 traffic will be diverted to the ramps alongside the road while a new bridge is being built over E4. New temporary exits and entrances from Robertsfors and Sikeå harbor. Reduced speeds. Duration: Starting from June 2023, completion in 2024. Length: 1.6 km.
E4, Lillåbron-Sävar
Work: Installation of side barriers. Traffic Impact: One lane closed, oncoming traffic. Duration: Mid-May to Mid-June.
E4, Umeå-Nordmaling
