SMHI has issued a warning for heavy snow combined with strong winds, beginning Tuesday morning, . There is a risk of severely limited road access, especially in wide-open areas, due to snowdrifts, traffic accidents, or delayed snow removal. Public transportation and air travel may also be delayed.

There is also likely to be a risk of power outages in areas with overhead power lines and a potential impact on the mobile phone network.

– Snow will be blowing around in some areas due to the wind. This could lead to reduced visibility in traffic and some drifting snow, says Charlotta Ericsson, meteorologist at SMHI.

The snowfall will continue until Wednesday.

– It will calm down a bit on Wednesday. Some snow may still fall, but the wind will decrease.

An orange warning has been issued from Umeå in the south to the Kåge area. A yellow warning is in effect up to the Byske area and further inland.
