Skellefteå Buss has launched its new app for users of public transport. The travel app has the same name as the old version but with a renewed logo. It can be downloaded from App store and Google Play right now.
– The app is developed with a focus on the passengers’ needs and will simplify travelling on public transport, says Marie Larsson, MD of Skellefteå Buss.
The app contains several new functions and there is now also an English version. You will be able to pay for your journey using both Swish and payment cards. Travel information will be updated in real-time and you will be able to locate the bus via a map. It will also be easier to find your nearest stop as well as save stops and favourite journeys in the app.
Users will also be able to give away or lend tickets to others.
Marie Larsson says that the new app is still under development.
– The app will continue to be developed also after the launch with fine-tuning and upgrades of certain functions. However, despite of this we know that the new app is a great improvement compared to the old one which makes us want to make it accessible to our users.
She describes the change as being eagerly awaited.
– There are great expectations. The old app had been in use for many years and was lacking the functions the modern traveller wants such as real-time traffic information. We had not developed this earlier as we had been waiting for the new app, she says.
The old app has now been removed from the mobile downloading services. But it will be possible to use for another little while. However, from 19 March it will no longer be possible to buy journeys in the old app and from 1 June it will disappear completely.
The new app has been developed in collaboration with Sweden's most northerly counties so that it eventually will be possible to travel seamlessly over all of northern Sweden with the Skellefteå Buss app. But that is further in future. For regional transport it is already possible to use Tabussen.nu.
