This change, effective March 1, aims to simplify the parking experience and address technical issues with the municipality's previous app, Skepark.
Skepark will be discontinued due to user dissatisfaction and ongoing technical problems. The new apps, already available for download, cater to the increasing popularity of app-based parking, particularly in central Skellefteå, where 80% of parking transactions occur through apps.
Existing monthly parkers in the Brinken and Campus parking garages will continue to use Skepark for a limited time.
Additionally, the municipality has removed coin payment options from two remaining parking meters and shut down four card payment machines in various locations. This shift toward app-based parking reflects changing user preferences and aims to offer a more efficient and user-friendly parking experience.
