Since 2018, the readers of Kalle Anka & Co. have been voting for a city that Kalle and his friends will visit. Last autumn, Skellefteå emerged as the winner of the vote against Halmstad and Norrköping.
– Halmstad was in the lead at the beginning, but then the local newspapers in Skellefteå and Norrköping wrote articles about the competition and pulled ahead. But Norrköping never really caught up with Skellefteå, says Anna Bergström, editorial project manager for Kalle Anka magazine, in an earlier interview with Norran.
In the new issue, which hits stores this week, Kalle has taken a job as a photographer for a newspaper that takes him up north to photograph the Sara kulturhus. "But Kalle barely has time to get his camera out before several of the city's buildings suddenly disappear right in front of him. With the help of his nephews, he must solve the mystery of the vanished buildings," the press release states.
As a complement to the magazine, an "Ankified" city map of Skellefteå, or "Kallefteå" as the city is called in Duckburgish, will be released. "There, you can find places like Anketorp, Farmorön, and Kvackande dalen," says the press release.
The map is available in limited edition and can also be downloaded from the internet.
