Guldstadsgymnasiet has chosen to rent an additional corridor directly connected to the school's existing premises on Storgatan in central Skellefteå. The new premises have been vacant for a period and will now be renovated to suit educational activities.
The renovations are estimated to cost around two million kronor.
– We expect to have about 70 new students this autumn. This can be compared to the 31 graduating students we have this year. This expansion is absolutely necessary for us to continue providing high-quality education, says principal Maria Holmstén.
Once the work is done, there will be larger student spaces, additional group rooms, and new classrooms. The staff room will also be relocated, offering new offices for teachers and other personnel.
– Next academic year, Guldstadsgymnasiet will celebrate its tenth anniversary. Expanding in conjunction with the ten-year milestone feels like a positive step forward, says Holmstén.
