Flights from Skellefteå to Rhodes are proceeding as planned after last week's canceled departure.
Tour operator TUI canceled all flights to Rhodes when the wildfires were at their worst on the island. The plane with a scheduled departure on July 28 was affected from Skellefteå airport.
The wildfires are now under control, and TUI has decided to resume the flights.
"The decision to temporarily cancel our flights to Rhodes was made after a careful assessment and due to difficulties with the island's infrastructure. We now see that transportation, water, and electricity supply are functioning almost normally [...]" Tui writes on its website.
The first plane from Skellefteå will depart on Friday, August 4.
– We have not received any other information than that it will proceed as usual. As long as we don't hear otherwise from TUI, it is business as usual, says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport.
