Sjungande dalen school was closed in 2020, but has now been reopened. The reason for this is that the number of children in Skellefteå is growing rapidly.
This week, just over a month into the school year, the new-old school was officially inaugurated. There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony and musical performances, and students ran out into the schoolyard one-by-one, waving homemade flags.
– Fortunately, we have received many more students than we expected. We currently have 44 students from eleven different nationalities, which we are very proud of, said principal Anneli Lindberg in a short speech to the students and parents present.
After all the children had run outside, it was time to sing. With the help of the cultural school, the students had rehearsed three songs with accompanying choreography. They had even helped to write one of the songs.
'We go to Sjungande dalen, Sjungande dalen, and sing-sing-sing-sing-singande, Sjungande dalen is the best,' the pupils sang.
Elsa Vestermark and August Sehlstedt from the preschool class were pleased with the opening. The most fun was running through the smoke from the smoke machine.
– It was fun that everyone was here to watch and that there was music, says Elsa.
August agrees:
– It's fun when it's loud.
How do you like the new school?
– It's good. I like our classroom, says Elsa.
– The best thing is that you can play almost all day,' says August, laughing.
