Northvolt System Industrial Division has a production unit in Gdansk, Poland, and a research and development center in Tomteboda, Stockholm.
In a press release, Scania states that the acquisition strengthens the company’s efforts in electrifying off-road applications. The acquired Northvolt company will operate as its own entity and serve as a partner to Scania’s subsidiary, Scania Power Solutions.

Their capabilities reinforce our modular strategy and support the development of complete electrified solutions in the off-road segment. I’m happy to welcome the team to Scania, says Sara Hermansson, CEO of Scania Power Solutions.
As part of the acquisition process, Scania has reached an agreement with the bankruptcy trustee. The purchase price will not be disclosed. Day-to-day operations will not be affected by the acquisition, and both parties have agreed on a deal that ensures continued operations.
There are no reports suggesting that the acquisition will significantly affect Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå.
