Temporary height restriction barriers will be installed at Lejonströmsbron today, between 9:30am and 4:00pm, requiring a full closure of the bridge.
The municipality stated the closure is necessary to install the barriers, which aim to prevent oversized and heavy vehicles from accessing the bridge. Norran reported on Monday that the measure is being taken to protect the historic structure.
– We need to protect Lejonströmsbron, both because it is important for our traffic planning and because it is a protected historic structure, explained Sara Keisu-Lundh (S), chair of the community development committee.
Permanent, red-painted wooden barriers will be installed at a later date.
– Until the permanent portals are in place, these temporary height restrictions will be used, Keisu-Lundh said in a press release.
