Green light for final grant payment to Northvolt's Revolt

The battery giant applied for a grant in 2020 to support its battery recycling investment, Revolt. As Northvolt has fulfilled the commitments made upon applying for the grant, it will receive the final chunk of support. Upon final payment, Northvolt Revolt AB will have received nearly160 million kronor in funding.

Northvolt Revolt AB, the lithium-ion battery recycling facility, was granted 158,959,500 kronor of climate support from Naturvårdsverket, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. This funding was awarded under the Klimatklivet program, which supports fossil-free technologies and green transitions.

Originally established as part of Northvolt, Revolt became an independent entity in 2022. While the initial investment estimate was 453 million kronor, the final cost escalated to 958,416,739 kronor. To date, Revolt has received 119,219,625 kronor of the total grant.

Klimatklivet grants allow for up to 75% advance payment, with the remaining funds disbursed upon completion of the company's financial reporting.

Naturvårdsverket has determined that Revolt has fulfilled the commitments made by Northvolt when applying for the grant. As a result, the final instalment of nearly 40 million kronor was approved on June 20.
