Skellefteå Buss has announced that bus route 5, running between Solbacken and Bergsbyängarna, will be discontinued starting August 18. To accommodate affected passengers, bus routes 1 and 9 will be extended to Solbacken, while routes 2, 3, and 4 will be extended to Bergsbyängarna. This change will result in increased travel times for some routes.
– Passenger numbers on route 5 have declined, prompting us to reallocate resources to areas with higher demand, said traffic manager Christoffer Wadén.
In other news, bus route 220, currently running between Skellefteå and Örviken, will be extended to Skelleftehamn starting August 19. The new route will cross the Sundgrund Bridge and terminate at Kyrkogårdsvägen.
– By extending route 220, we aim to improve connectivity between these areas and create additional public transportation hubs. We have received numerous requests for this extension.
Additionally, travel times on routes to Boliden and Byske have been adjusted due to increased traffic congestion in Skellefteå. These changes are intended to improve driver working conditions and ensure punctual service for passengers.
No further changes are planned for the autumn.
