In a press release, Northvolt announced the distribution of over 10 million kronor to its employees as a token of appreciation for their hard work. The employees will receive a Skellefteå gift card, a card that can only be used for purchases at local stores in Skellefteå. This initiative aims to benefit the local business community, fostering a vibrant city center that makes Skellefteå an even more attractive place to live and work.

Mark Duchesne, CEO of Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, emphasized the importance of a thriving city center for both the company and its employees.

–A vibrant city center is crucial for Skellefteå to continue being an attractive city to live in and move to, Duchesne said.

– We have a history of supporting the development of the city center, and we see this as another way we can contribute.

According to press officer Sanna Bäckström, the gift card distribution translates to over 3,000 kronor per employee. The Skellefteå gift card, distributed by Visit Skellefteå, is accepted by over 100 local stores.

Maria Broman, CEO of Visit Skellefteå, expressed her delight at Northvolt's choice.

– We are of course very happy that Northvolt chose the local gift card, Broman said.

Since Northvolt Ett began its large-scale recruitment drive in 2021, Skellefteå's population has grown at an unprecedented pace. The factory hires roughly 100 people each month, with the majority relocating from other parts of Sweden and the world.

– We believe in celebrating all milestones, big and small, said Duchesne.

– Working at the scale and pace we do involves many milestones. These initiatives are our way of giving back to our employees who do a fantastic job. Their hard work deserves recognition, he concluded.
