Johansson recently registered the company Cinco Skellefteå AB with local partners Desirée Nilsson and Björn Damm. They will run the business out of the Quality Hotel in the center of Skellefteå. The opening is scheduled for September.
– We're going to build a stage at the westernmost point and a dance floor. Then we will replace the furniture and raise the floor in some places, says Nilsson.
– Then the entrance will be moved to the east side of the hotel, adds Damm.
With the hotel open for breakfast seven days a week and the restaurant and nightclub open in the evenings, the space will be busy most hours of the day.
The Cinco concept has already been tested in Umeå. Fredrik Johansson says that several people from Skellefteå have visited.
– I think something like this is long overdue. We are known in Umeå for our brunches and day parties with saxophonists or artists. Suppliers of wine or beer, for example, are often present to explain and talk about their products. There should be a bit of city feeling, a bit of a pulse, a bit of a 'pool party by the Mediterranean'.
Desirée Nilsson will be the operations manager, and she has experience working with hotels and has previously run the pastry shop Lilla Marie. Before joining Cinco, she worked as Coca Cola's regional manager for Norrland.
Björn Damm most recently comes from Icanders, which opened in April. Now, he will be responsible for Cinco's restaurant.
–The food will be a mixture. A little bit of Spain meets Norrland and everything in between, he says.
DJ and nightlife personality David Atterhem has been recruited as the event and marketing manager for both Cinco in Umeå and Skellefteå. The nightclub will have a younger age limit on Fridays and an older one on Saturdays.
Johansson explains that they have a jam-packed program planned for the fall with well-known artists and other stage acts, themed nights, and activities.
– We also want to attract attention. We are planning events, competitions, and activities in various places. It could be a beach volleyball tournament in Boviken in the summer, golf, padel, parties, events, or activities in town. We want to be where the people are, he says.
