Lundkvist was there for the javelin final in the new Nemzet Atlétikai Központ Arena, which only opened in June this year.
– Of the eight athletes who qualified to throw six rounds in the final, seven threw with our javelins, Lundkvist says.
All three medallists - Neeraj Chopra from India, Arshaad Nadeem from Pakistan and Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic - threw the same javelin model, the Nordic Valhalla medium, which was developed by Nordic Sport four years ago.
– The javelin comes in different models with two different tips and two different stiffnesses, explains Lundkvist:
– These javelins have become very popular. We sell a lot of them in our webshop and they go to places like the USA.
Neeraj Chopra, 25, is the first Asian ever to win a World Championship gold medal in the javelin.
– He has a big profile, with several million followers on Instagram.
However, there have been no successes for Nordic Sport among women javelin throwers.
– We haven't been as successful on that front.
Nordic Sport's pole production (for poles used in the pole vault discipline) moved from Arvidsjaur to Skellefteå last spring. A new facility for javelin production in Anderstorp is also planned for 2023.
– In late spring or early summer we plan to move the javelin production from Arvidsjaur to Anderstorp, says Lundkvist.
– It will be much easier for us to bring throwers here, as they will be able to use the Norrvalla athletic facility. The same goes for pole vaulters with Florahallen, she says.
