At the outset of negotiations, Skebo proposed a 6.71 percent rent increase, effective April 1st, a proposition Hyresgästföreningen (the Tenants' Association) rejected. Following the parties' inability to reach a consensus, the matter was referred to Hyresmarknadskommittén (the Rent Market Committee), which has now determined a five percent rent increase.

For newly constructed apartments, the increase will be moderated to three percent.

Skebo has opted against applying retroactive rent increases, thus the increase will be implemented from May 1 instead of April 1.

Johannah Malmin, the Tenants' Association's negotiator, stated the following in a press release:

– We would have preferred a negotiated settlement; rent negotiations are optimally resolved locally. Nevertheless, Skebo has demonstrated responsibility towards its tenants by forgoing retroactive increases.

Skebo stated in a press release that they "are assuming responsibility during a challenging period."

– We have endeavored to strike a balance between financial requirements and consideration for our tenants' circumstances, said Anna Ersson, customer and marketing manager at Skebo, in the press release.

– Many of our tenants are directly or indirectly impacted by the situation surrounding Northvolt. Therefore, we wish to fulfil our responsibility and support our tenants through a transition that is equitable and manageable during a period of hardship for many.
