Skellefteå municipality receives statistics from the Swedish Tax Agency at the beginning of each week.
The latest figures show that there were 76,514 inhabitants in Skellefteå municipality at the turn of the year. This means that the population growth since the middle of 2023 was 1,201 inhabitants, compared to an increase of 1,009 people for the whole of 2022.
The official statistics will come from Statistics Sweden in February.
– We have compared the figures before and the difference is usually marginal, explains Sundin Jonsson.
According to the analysis, two-thirds of the increase has come from migration from other parts of Sweden.
– In addition, a third of those who have moved in have come from other parts of the world," says Sundin Jonsson, who sees continued high immigration through 2024.
– We need them. We have no unemployment. The big industries are still hiring, and the social sector with health, education and care services is also hiring, she notes.
