Fundraising for Luna pulled in 2.6 million

Luna, 10, survived a brutal assault on Morö Backe last summer, but will always be affected by the severe injuries she suffered. In December, a fundraiser was started to support her and the family. Now the fundraising has ended having generated more than 2.6 million kronor.

With some of the money, the family has been able to buy an adapted car with space for Luna's wheelchair.

It was the family who started the fundraising. Luna's aunt Emma says that at the moment she does not know exactly how many people contributed money, but that it is several thousand people.

In total, the fundraising has brought in just over 2.6 million kronor. That sum also includes a campaign from last summer, when Luna was sedated at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå, which raised over 150,000 kronor.

– It's a crazy amount of money, which is fantastic. I am happy and grateful for every penny; the money will be really needed, says Emma.

– It is so incredibly nice that the family has received this support. The money provides security, independence and freedom, says Emma.

"The money gives us security, independence and freedom," says Luna's aunt Emma. The picture is from when Norran met Emma in December.

The family's fundraising is now finished, but the Lean On Me foundation, which works to support children and young people who find themselves in difficult situations, has started a fund to be able to help the family financially in the future.

– The money will be used for everything that promotes Luna's life and healing. It can be anything from an aid or device that needs to be bought to a trip that makes her feel good, says Emma.
