There are still a few finishing touches to be done, but soon Bavaria's location on Tjärnvägen in the south of the city will open. It is a project that has been in the works for two years, according to site manager Mikael Lindgren.
– It's a completely new facility. When we were taken over by Hedin Bil, the idea was for us to have our own location at some point in the future. We couldn't find an existing one, so we decided to build our own instead.
The cars were moved from the old location in Solbacken, and some were elevated to the top floor in the new location.
– We enlisted the help of family, friends and acquaintances to get it done. About 50 cars had to be moved.
Lindgren won't be drawn on the exact numbers, but this is a huge investment.
– It is thanks to Hedin Bil that this has been possible. They believe in us and Skellefteå; it's exciting to be part of this journey.
Several new hires are also planned with the move, says Lindgren.
– We've already hired another technician, and we're currently looking for two positions in the detailing department as well as a service consultant.
A new brand will also be introduced.
– We will be selling BYD, Build Your Dream, a Chinese brand that makes electric cars.
A few more details need fixing before opening.
The opening is scheduled for January 2, 2024. Final preparations are well underway inside the building.
How does it feel to invest in the current economic situation?
– Things will turn around, and when they do, I believe that the new location will give us an advantage.
