The travel company, Tui, has cancelled all flights departing for Rhodes, including the one scheduled from Skellefteå on July 28, due to forest fires in the southeastern part of the island.
Although Skellefteå Airport has not been directly notified by Tui, the travel operator announced on their website that all flights to Rhodes, slated to leave up until Friday, are cancelled. Trips to the southeastern Rhodes destinations of Kiotari, Lardos, Lindos, Pefkos, and Plimmiri, scheduled to depart up until Sunday, July 30, have also been axed.
In a statement, Tui stressed that customer safety is their utmost priority and the decision to cancel was made due to infrastructural difficulties in the affected regions of Rhodes.
Tui will systematically contact affected customers based on their scheduled departure dates.
All cancelled trips will be fully refunded automatically, with the process expected to be completed within 14 days.
