The explosion occurred just before 10pm inside the Northvolt Ett factory on November 4th. Twelve units from the fire department were called to the scene.

Norran has reported several times on the accident, in which an explosion occurred during maintenance work at the plant. A 25-year-old man died on the night of December 15 after being in intensive care since the accident.

Arbetsmiljöverket has now carried out an inspection, investigated the incident and also asked Northvolt to investigate.

Much of the content in the report under the heading "Assessment of workplace deficiencies and causality" has been fully classified.

The only remaining information is as follows: "Arbetsmiljöverket considers that the accident would probably not have happened if the employer had fulfilled its obligations under the occupational health and safety legislation," the authority says in the report.

Two fatal accidents occurred at Northvolt Ett in late 2023. Arbetsmiljöverket (the Swedish Work Environment Authority) has now reported the explosion on November 4 to the police as a suspicion of violations against workplace safety.

Even everything under the heading "provisions" was classified.

– We have eliminated the risk of it happening again, Northvolt's Fredrik Hedlund recently told Norran about the company's investigation.

– We are submitting the case for consideration as to whether anyone has committed a crime at work by intentionally or negligently failing to do what was required of them under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to prevent illness or accidents, Arbetsmiljöverket writes in its report to the police.
