Northvolt will use wind power from a wind farm in the region to power the factory.

Olaf Scholz notes that investments of this kind are strategically important for Germany and for Europe.

– It is good news for our entire country that battery cells produced in a climate-friendly way will be manufactured here for one million cars per year in the future, he comments on Northvolt's investment.

Recruitment of employees for the factory has already started, and a survey shows that 80 percent of the local population are positive about the project.

– It is unprecedented for a large-scale industrial project on 110 hectares to receive such strong support from the local population, says Christofer Haux, CEO of Northvolt Germany.
