A construction hoist in Sundbyberg, north of Stockholm, has collapsed, falling 20 meters to the ground.

– A construction hoist fell 20 meters and there must have been four to five people on board, says rescue service management operator Kurt Jonsson.

– We are on site and working as quickly as we can.

According to Kurt Jonsson, the injuries to those involved are serious.

What caused the accident is currently unknown.

Alimak states that the construction hoist is a standard model that has been used for many years.

– It is manufactured in Skellefteå. It is our product but has been rented out by the Stockholm-based company ABC Bygghissar. They are the ones who installed it. It's our product, but they have handled that aspect, says Alimak's spokesperson, Johnny Nylund.

Has the use of this construction hoist been halted on other construction sites?

– No, we see no reason for that. It's a standard product we have been using for many years. We have never experienced anything similar before. We see no reason to stop using them, says Nylund.

Norran has asked for a comment from ABC Bygghissar but has not received a response.
