In June of last year, Norran reported about early plans, both for a new building on Campus Skellefteå where, among other things, the Arctic Center of Energy will be housed, as well as new housing for students and researchers on a site that is today a parking lot between the Stock student house and Skråmträskvägen.
Construction will soon start on the Arctic Center of Energy building, and on Monday the proposed plan for the residences became public.
The student and researcher apartments will consist of one or two rooms and be between 20 and 55 square meters.
"The new student housing is necessary due to the current housing shortage, and it is important that the students have the opportunity to live in the town, preferably close to the Campus," according to the plan proposal.
The dialogue with the nearby residents has resulted in alterations to the original proposal to take into account a number of issues including obstruction of the sun and shadows.
