The project, developed by Sveafastigheter, a subsidiary of Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget (SBB), will consist of 178 apartments in multiple buildings. The construction is being carried out by Lindbäcks, with completion expected by March 2026.
This marks the first new construction project for Sveafastigheter in the country this year, reflecting the cautious approach of property companies in the current market.
The construction site is located at Krongatan, in the northernmost part of Moröhöjden, in the north-east of the city. The project was delayed due to issues with drainage and broader market concerns. Despite these challenges, the project is now moving forward, with the first apartments expected to be ready for occupancy as early as next autumn. The tallest building will reach 10 stories, and most of the construction will be in wood.
Interested renters must be on the waiting list at Home Q. The apartments will range from studios of 26 square meters to five-room apartments of 100 square meters.
Skellefteå mayor, Lorents Burman was happy:
– This is the most important event of the year for me.
He admits to Norran that he is relieved that the large apartment construction project is finally starting, as he was worried that it would take even longer.
