Lorents Burman, chairman of the municipal executive committee in Skellefteå, expressed his satisfaction with the decision to host the Rural Parliament.

 – We're thrilled to be entrusted with this responsibility, he said.

 – It holds significant meaning for us. Skellefteå is a thriving rural municipality, which makes this opportunity particularly gratifying.

Burman emphasizes the importance of the Rural Parliament as a platform.

 – These issues are incredibly crucial, he said.

 – Decision-making processes often place a heavy emphasis on urban areas, neglecting the millions residing in rural communities. I've lived in the countryside my entire life, and I understand these challenges first-hand.

Skellefteå serves as a prime example of the positive impact of recent investments, according to Burman.

 – We have numerous examples showcasing how rural areas can be a driving force in the green transition and economic growth. Our region has witnessed a tremendous surge due to ongoing investments. Many who come here for work choose to live in our rural areas. This influx is both exciting and rewarding, further invigorating our already vibrant culture, Burman concluded.
