On Saturday afternoon, a man in his 30s was found dead in an apartment in central Piteå. Due to the uncertain nature of the circumstances, the police classified the case as a suspected murder.

Police immediately launched an investigation around 14:00 on Saturday. Police technicians examined the crime scene, and officers conducted door-to-door enquiries in the nearby area.

The investigation continued on Sunday, but police remained tight-lipped about the details. A forensic examination is underway to determine the cause of death.

– The examination may reveal the presence of drugs in the body, signs of violence, or other details that might have been missed at the scene, explained Maria Linné, a spokesperson for the police regional command center.

Citing investigative secrecy, authorities declined to comment on whether there were signs of violence, the presence of other people in the apartment at the time of death, or if any witnesses have been questioned. As of now, no arrests or detentions have been made.

Mattias Jonsson, the on-duty officer, explained the importance of the forensic analysis.
