From Britain to Österjörn: "This is truly a dream come true!"

Over fifteen years ago, Corrine Winchester moved with her children Skye, Angel, and Blue from the UK to Sweden. Initially, the family lived in Porjus, but for the past few years, they have lived in Österjörn. Since this spring, Corrine has been working as the operations manager for Lantliv in Österjörn. Overlooking the sparkling lake, Jörnsträsket, she runs a hotel in the historic manor house, the Midgård hostel in the nearby log building, and the campsite located across the lake.

Corrine Winchester runs the business with great dedication and a strong sense of service. Now, she hopes to start a collaboration with other local businesses and that the operation will be a boost for the area.

– It is so beautiful here and a place for experiences and recreation, says Corrine, and her daughter Angel agrees.

Since this spring, Corrine Winchester runs the facilities Lantliv i Österjörn with the manor hotel, the hostel and the camping located on the other side of the lake. Here she is together with her daughter Angel.

– I have previously worked in the hotel and restaurant industry both in the UK and in Norr- and Västerbotten. When Sophie Luo, the owner of Lantliv in Österjörn, asked if I would like to work as the operations manager, the answer was easy. This is truly a dream come true for me, says Corrine with a smile.

With these various facilities, there is always something to do. She books guests, cleans the camping cabins and hotel rooms, mows the grass, prepares breakfast, and arranges dinners.

– I have my children who try to help as much as they can!

Since the pandemic hit, the facility had been closed, but has now reopened. The manor hotel and Midgård hostel are open year-round, and the campsite is open until the end of September. The manor house has three renovated hotel rooms with access to a toilet and shower. On the ground floor, there is a dining room and a conference room. Midgård has six different rooms, and the campsite offers ten cabins for rent and spaces for caravans, motorhomes, and tents.

In Great Britain, all swans are protected and owned by the royals. Corinne is trying to implement some English details into the business and always folds the towels into swans.

Corrine explains that breakfast is included for guests staying at the hotel, but those staying at Midgård and the campsite can also book breakfast.

– You can choose between a traditional breakfast or an English breakfast. There is also a lunch menu with various dishes, and our Österjörn burger has become a real favorite.

Corrine shares that she is happy to collaborate with other businesses.

– We want to create different package deals where local businesses work together to promote the area, she explains and continues:

– For me, service is important, and also that guests should feel comfortable and well taken care of. Österjörn is so beautiful, and each season offers different experiences and recreation. That is something we want to cherish!
