Byggföretagen will hold a meeting in Skellefteå in October to gather information and discuss strategies for helping companies that worked for Northvolt. Erik Ranängen, industry and association manager at Byggföretagen, told NSD (in Swedish) that they are aware of businesses facing challenges due to the layoffs.
– Companies that worked directly for Northvolt and also those that were subcontractors are affected, said Ranängen.
– We don't have a complete picture yet.
While the downsizing at Northvolt will reduce demand for construction services, local companies hope that other projects can be initiated to mitigate the impact. Infrastructure investments such as the Norrbothnia railway could potentially be accelerated.
