Viaplay's new series, Högspänning (High Voltage), about people in the energy industry, was filmed in several different parts of Västerbotten.
– It will be a "behind the scenes" series, says a happy Nina Munter, press officer, Skellefteå Kraft.
Skellefteå Kraft is carrying out this venture together with Vattenfall under the management of the production company Delta Studios and in collaboration with Energiföretagen Sverige. In the first episode, viewers will be able to follow an electrician and his colleague who have to disconnect cables to a small summer house. Then it's Jonas and Andreas, who work at a wind farm, who have to replace a meter in a wind turbine 100 meters up in the air.
– Tension is generated by the very high altitude at which these employees perform their jobs. Of course, we have safety regulations. But there are still moments of tension. What do our employees do in their everyday life? For example, what do they do when it snows, asks Munter.
The filming of the series took place during the autumn of 2022 and the spring-winter of 2023.
– I have seen the first episode. It was fun to watch and I was so impressed with my colleagues. Even though I work here, there were many 'wow' moments, especially at the depth and breadth of their knowledge. The heights they work at are breathtaking to see, says Nina Munter.
According to a survey carried out by Energiföretagen, it is estimated that roughly 8,000 technicians and engineers will be needed within the next three years. Already today, the need for recruitment is great. In order to secure the supply of skills, the energy industry needs to reach out to talented people who can be future employees. Therefore, Skellefteå Kraft has invested in this series with industry colleague Vattenfall.
– We want to be an industry and a company that more people want to work in and for. Therefore, we need to be visible in many channels to reach additional target groups. We also hope to increase the public's knowledge of our work, by showing what happens behind the scenes so that our customers can trust that they get their electricity and heat and that the broadband works, says Mirjam Bellgran, human resources manager, Skellefteå Kraft.
