As part of the consultation process the municipality has said that it's not opposed to any of the parks because of the benefits of producing green energy. However, wind farms are becoming more expensive to build which could affect the project's profitability.
Regarding the wind farm near Robertsfors, only 10kms out to sea, it is noted that it will affect the environment even on land concerning noise, visibility, nature, and cultural environment.
That park will be built by Aurum Wind, and contain a maximum of 147 turbines with a height of 330-365 meters.
The other wind farm is to be built further out at sea, which is praised in the municipality's statement. That park is planned by Njordr Offshore Wind AB. The location is commended for not causing disturbance, and for Njordr's well-conducted investigation.
However, the water is deep, 45-65 meters, which means that foundations and anchors will be crucial. There is also the issue of ice.
The wind farm will have 74 turbines 330 meters high. The site is 40kms from the border with Skellefteå municipality, and the turbines will be visible from Lövånger in clear weather.
Neither company has decided how to lay the foundations for the wind turbines. When the water is deep, it is difficult to build fixed foundations and a floating solution must be used.
Neither wind farm is in shipping lanes. The Aurum is closer to land than the lanes, and Njordr's is outside the lanes.
