The third period proved to be decisive. Örebro tied the game, but Skellefteå responded quickly. First, Pontus Johansson scored a goal that bounced over Jonas Arntzen's shoulder, putting AIK back in front, and then a subsequent five-on-three power play allowed Skellefteå to extend their lead to 3-1.
Örebro mounted a late comeback, narrowing the gap to one goal. However, with seconds left in the game, Rickard Hugg intercepted a pass and scored into an empty net to seal a 4-2 victory for Skellefteå AIK.
