Vitberget usually opens at the end of October, and on Saturday, Skellefteå municipality announced that the artificial snow track at the Nordic trail was ready for the season's premiere for eager cross-country skiers.
– It feels great, says Hans Pettersson, head of the culture and leisure office, about the opening, and continues:
– It's a great opportunity for children and young people who want to practice their skills or learn new ones. That's the main purpose, to give them an early start to the season, so they can develop their skiing.
In addition, the municipality has opened the trail free of charge for the first week, through to Monday, November 6. Normally, a trail fee is charged to skiers over the age of 18.
– First and foremost, we want more people to discover the trail, so we've offered it for free. It's school vacation week for kids and teens, and maybe some adults will join them. We also offer other kinds of free activities, says Pettersson. har du ett event imorgon kväll kl 18-21?
