The world's first picture book fair will take place at Sara kulturhus in Skellefteå on Friday 20 and Saturday October 21. The fair is for parents, guardians, teachers, and everyone who has contact with young children at work or at home.
Friday is aimed at professionals who work with children's language and offers inspiration about books, storytelling, children's rights, and language development. On Saturday, young children and their adults are welcome for a day of storytelling, crafts, games, and inspiration.
– Throughout the fair, we have a spotlight on the picture book - most children's first book. It is in the early years of a child's life that the foundation for language development is laid, and all adults around young children play an important role in early interaction. We hope that the picture book fair will spread the word about why early language development initiatives are so important, says project manager Frida Värnlund from Regionbibliotek Västerbotten.
Frida also shares some of the highlights she is looking forward to:
– Both days are packed with fun elements for young and old. Children's book authors Emma Virke and Hanna Albrektson will be present on Saturday, and toddlers can make their own fruit friends. Lill-Sara will even give the toddlers a chance to try out a podcast.
