For the 30th time, Nordanå will be the venue for Trästockfestivalen this week. On Monday, a Transformers-like truck trailer arrived, housing the Campus stage. Meanwhile, impressive piles of fences awaited assembly.
Surprisingly energetic musicians from the organizing cultural association Mullberget were already on site in the morning, temporarily taking on the role of construction workers. They were not alone. According to Elias Eriksson, representative of the Trästockfestivalen management, around 130 people work on the festival in various roles. Out of these, approximately 100 are a mix of musicians and volunteers.
– It's heartwarming that people reach out to help and find it meaningful to be involved, says Elias, as he and a group of others begin setting up the stage.
Elias plays in the band Hök, performing on Saturday evening. Leah Markström and Charlie Frid from the hard rock band Griftegård, however, are not as fortunate. They are missing a drummer and will have to sit out this year's festival. Nevertheless, they work hard, eager to learn as much as possible about stage setups and the art of organizing performances. Perhaps they will have a complete band next year?
As the young quartet Uncontained Hatred make their Trästock debut, they have traded tuning pegs for tightening fence nuts all the while maintaining their rock look, of course. They will open the festival on Friday at 2:30 PM and are excited at the prospect of signing autographs.
